The AAMDC is made up of 69 incorporated rural municipalities, including:
- 64 municipal districts and counties
- 4 specialized municipalities
- The Special Areas Board (as an affiliate member)
Our original mandate:
- To forward the interests of all Local Improvement Districts throughout the province.
- To secure legislation relating to Local Improvement work.
- To guard the interests of Local Improvement Districts in any proposed legislation.
- To work in accord with the Government of Alberta through the Department of Public Works, to the mutual benefit of both
In the years since our founding, this mission has remained essentially the
same. It has broadened to meet the evolving priorities
and concerns of our membership. The AAMDC has
adapted to these changes and continues to develop new and
innovative ways to serve Alberta's rural municipalities.
