IRRIGATION TECHNICIAN

The Town of Okotoks Parks business centre provides professional care of parks, pathways, playgrounds, outdoor recreation facilities, natural spaces and trees. The Parks team is looking for an experienced and skilled Irrigation Technician to join their team; the successful candidate will perform general as well as specialized duties related primarily to irrigation and be required to have a strong working knowledge in sports field and general park maintenance.

The Irrigation Technician will primarily be responsible for establishing priorities and coordinating work schedules that support the initiatives established by the team; perform irrigation system start-ups and blowouts as scheduled, and inspect, operate and maintain irrigation systems including pipe, valves, sprinkler heads, quick couplers, controllers, wiring, and any other system components.

Candidates are required to have a diploma, degree or Trade Certification in irrigation as well as 3 to 5 years directly related irrigation experience. Experience in commercial or municipal irrigation is preferred. The incumbent must possess strong organizational and scheduling skills, excellent problem solving skills, and good customer service skills. Possession of a valid Class 5 driver’s license with air brakes is necessary, as well as proficiency in skid steer operation.

This is a full-time year round position working 40 hours a week on a Monday through Friday schedule. Our total compensation package includes a competitive salary, a comprehensive benefit package and participation in LAPP pension plan.
