Parkland County has a Permanent, Full-time position available in the Economic Diversification Department for a Business Development Officer – Commercial & Industrial. Under the general direction of the Director, Economic Diversification Department, this position is responsible for attracting, retaining and expanding commercial and industrial businesses by researching and promoting economic diversification within Parkland County. The main focus of this position is actively pursuing businesses to relocate and/or expand to Parkland County as well as working with those already in the County, while maintaining relationships and support for existing businesses. This position requires well-developed interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills along with diplomacy and tact in dealing with the public.


  • Diploma or Degree in a Business, Marketing or Economic Development discipline is preferred.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Above average writing skills and proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
  • Possession of a valid Alberta driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.

Competition Number: 17-35AMC
Rate of Pay: $80,811 to $100,982 per annum
Hours of Work: 7 hours/day; 35 hours/week
Competition Closing Date: Friday, May 19, 2017 at 4:30 p.m.
