Parkland County has a Permanent, Full-time position available within Human Resources for a Safety Coordinator. Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, the Safety Coordinator is a strategic team player that provides knowledge, leadership and direction to support the organizational safety culture. The Safety Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing and maintaining a comprehensive safety management system. In addition to working knowledge of Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Legislation and the Alberta Traffic Safety Act, this position requires well-developed interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.


  • Certificate or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety from an accredited post-secondary institution. Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or equivalent designation is desirable.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of relevant experience in Occupational Health and Safety, preferably in a local government setting.
  • Familiarity with the Alberta Certificate of Recognition (COR) program and Alberta National Safety Codes audit is preferred.
  • Strong writing skills and proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office, is required.
  • Possession of a valid Alberta driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.

Competition Number: 17-54
Rate of Pay: $72,314 - $90,375 per annum.
Hours of Work: 7 hours/day; 35 hours/week
