The Operations Services Department of Red Deer County has a seasonal, full-time position for a dynamic and highly motivated Gravel Assistant to supplement our ongoing focus in the delivery of customer service excellence.

The Operations Services Department of Red Deer County has a seasonal, full-time position for a dynamic and highly motivated Gravel Assistant to supplement our ongoing focus in the delivery of customer service excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Contract Manager, the responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Direct and organize gravel truck routes.
  • Clearly mark dust controls.
  • Calculate and organize gravel truck spread distances.
  • Safely identify and mark hazards.
  • Detailed records keeping, data input, and computer operation.
  • Maintain clear communication with truck drivers and foreman.
  • Field labour and other duties as required within the scope of the position.

 

Qualifications

  • Completion of a Grade Twelve (12) diploma.
  • Knowledge and understanding of safe traffic controls and procedures.
  • Proficient computer skills, specifically Microsoft Excel.
  • Detail oriented and safety conscious.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers’ License & acceptable drivers’ abstract.
  • Criminal Records Check is required.
  • Experience in operating tractor/trailer trucks, and related courses is an asset.
  • Background in road maintenance is also considered an asset.

 

Additional Information This is a seasonal, full-time position (40 hours/week).

Term: May 1 2018 – September 28, 2018
