Alberta is home to a number of wildfires every year, and provincial and municipal resources are the first line of defense in controlling and minimizing their impacts. Recent fires in northern Alberta emphasize the need to increase awareness about the tools available to help municipalities prepare and plan for wildfire events to minimize devastation.

The AAMDC is pleased to partner with the AUMA, Alberta Agriculture and Forestry, and the University of Alberta to bring you a webinar on wildfires. This webinar is intended to give municipalities the tools they need to build partnerships and address wildfire prevention, management and suppression issues. The webinar will also provide an overview of the FireSmart Program, and describe how communities have successfully participated in this important initiative.

The webinar is scheduled to run from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. on Friday, September 9, 2016. Click here to register.
